BAREILLY: City police on Monday night rescued a 16-year-old girl, who had gone missing on February 13 from her house in Subhash Nagar, from New Delhi railway station.
According to police, a 17-year-old youth befriended her on Facebook, came down to Bareilly, and took her along to Delhi.
Station house officer (SHO) of Subhashnagar police station Hareesh Chandra Joshi said, “On February 13, her father had lodged a missing complaint, following which our police team with help from cyber cell and surveillance teams launched an investigation.

On Monday morning, we traced the girl’s mobile phone location and received confirmation about her location from our informers. A six-member police team went Delhi and rescued the girl from New Delhi railway station, where she was roaming alone.”
“During questioning, the girl narrated her ordeal. The girl had fallen in love with the boy, who picked her up from Bareilly in a car on February 13. She used to stay alone at an unidentified location in Delhi,” said Joshi.
“After her medical examination at the district hospital, she was handed over to her parents. An FIR has been lodged against the unidentified accused under section 363 (kidnaping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Our police team, along with Delhi police, is conducting raids to nab the youth,” Joshi added.
